Nearly half of the residences in 34114 may be vacant during the off-season, as the primary reason (77.1%) for vacancies is due to homes used only seasonally or occasionally by their owners.

The western boundary of ZIP 34114 follows Collier Boulevard south from Interstate 75 to, but not including, Marco Island. From East Marco Bay, the ZIP continues southeasterly to include about 43 square miles of the Ten Thousand Islands to a point at the southwestern end of Big Cypress National Preserve. The eastern boundary follows State Route 29 to the north end of Fakahatchee Strand State Preserve. From there it follows an irregular pattern back toward the intersection of Collier Boulevard and I-75 at Exit 101.
