Coquina Sands HomeAmong the oldest communities in Naples FL, Coquina Sands has long been a popular address in Southwest Florida. It’s not just because of the stunning views of the Gulf of Mexico, nor is it the award-winning golf course next-door at the Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club. The foundations for Coquina Sands were laid in the 1960s, with development continuing until the mid-1980s. The site is located between the Moorings, Lake Park and Olde Naples to its south. The official area is bordered by South Golf Drive (south), Orchid Drive (north) cutting across Crayton Road, Hurricane Harbor Lane and Gulf Shore Boulevard (Sancerre Condominium), and the North Tamiami Trail (US 41) to the east.

Coquina Sands property include luxury estate homes on larger than usual lots, which offers a greater level of privacy and quality of living. Most of the homes are located in the north and east of the development, ranging in size from 1,300 sq ft to more than 7,500 sq ft, with many of the larger estates including swimming pools. Several on Hurricane Harbor have private docks, with easy access to the Gulf via Doctor’s Pass to the north.

There are 23 Coquina Sands condominium communities, 9 of which are beachfront developments. Gulf Shore Colony, Embassy Club, and Mansion House are located north of Lowdermilk Beach Park, while Laurentians, Colonial Club, Whitehall, Via Delfino, Bahamas Club and Surfside Club are to the south. The remaining 14 are mid-rise and low-rise complexes on the east side of Gulf Shore Boulevard, or the western end of Bayan Boulevard. While the condos vary dramatically in style and size, ranging from just 850 sq ft to more than 4,000 sq ft, they are all well-maintained and stylish.

The Coastland Center, Macy’s and Naples Plaza are all located near the northeast corner of Coquina Sands while residents also have a selection of beachfront restaurants to choose from. For young families, there are elementary and high schools only a few minutes’ drive way, while Lowdermilk Park hugs the beach and Naples Zoo is only a short drive east, at Caribbean Gardens. Residents also have access to the golfing facilities at the Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club, adjacent to but not located within the footprint of the development.

Not only is Coquina Sands in the heart of Naples, but it is also the heart of Naples. Coquina Sands is not merely a taste of Naples; it is Naples. Stretching from Tamiami Trail (US 41) on the east, across Gulf Shore Boulevard and the beaches, this community is the historic Naples, preserving the luxurious Naples lifestyle.

Construction at Coquina Sands began in the 1960s and continued through the 1980s, but that does not mean that the homes are from that decade. Most of the older estates have been replaced with new, even more luxurious homes and modern amenities. Coquina Sands is one of Naples’ most prestigious waterfront and beachfront communities. It is a large subdivision comprised of a broad range of homes and styles from condos to breathtaking custom, estate homes of 8,000 square feet and more. Location, Location, Location

The convenient location of Coquina Sands means that everything that is Naples, Florida, feels like it is accessible just outside your doorsteps. Yet, the dense, tropical surroundings, palm-lined streets, tall pines and banyan trees ensure a beautiful, quiet and comfortable environment in which the Southwest Florida lifestyle may be enjoyed to its fullest.

While just a short walk to the beach for many residents, the Coastland Center Mall is just east of US 41. Coastland is home to anchor stores, such as Macy’s, Sears, Dillard’s and JC Penney, and other popular retailers, including Gordon’s Jewelers, Perfumania, American Eagle, Abercrombie & Fitch, Old Navy and Aeropostale.

Shopping

Drive south on US 41, but don’t blink or you will pass the specialty shops at Bayfront Place and 3rd Avenue North. Just a few yards blocks south are the Tin City Shoppes, pictures of which seem to grace every travel brochure for the Naples, Florida area. The upscale 5th Avenue shops are just a few minutes south of the Naples Beach Golf Club, which is actually a part of Coquina Sands and, for all practical purposes comprises the southernmost point of the community.

Loudermilk Park

Like the golf course, Loudermilk Park, one of the jewels of Naples and all of Southwest Florida with its pristine, white-sand beaches, is the western boundary of Coquina Sands, offering public access to the exceptional portion of Florida’s Gulf shore.

Waterfront Homes

The waterfront homes in Coquina Sands have private boat docks and feature direct access to the Gulf of Mexico through Doctors Pass. From there, it is a short ride north to the natural beauty of Big Hickory Island and Lovers Key State Recreation Area or other passages into the scenic Intracoastal waterways that make Southwest Florida the exceptional place that it is.
